DURING THIS FREE WEBINAR YOU WILL HAVE THE OPPORTUNITY TO LEARN:

  • Management of citizen-generated data
  • Data cataloguing and practical information for data providers
  • Benefits of using CKAN and OpenSearch API

There is more and more citizen-science data available through different interfaces and infrastructures. At the same time, there is a need to facilitate combined access and utilisation with Earth Observation data towards the development of applications for improved environmental monitoring. Thus, the challenge aims to harness recognised cataloguing services provided through NextGEOSS so as to increase uptake of these resources.

In this webinar you will learn about harvesting citizen-science data from different providers, showcasing the harvesting capabilities of NextGEOSS. We will show that european public investment in projects like SCENT adds value to both the EO and the citizen-science communities. You will also learn about the benefits of having your data added NextGEOSS catalogue and how make the API more friendly to cataloguing.

The webinar is addressing providers of citizen-science data, data providers who’d like to expand their reach and visibility in the GEOSS community.

DURING THIS FREE WEBINAR YOU WILL LEARN:

  • Approaches for modelling citizen-science data through the OGC SensorThings API
  • Representation and visualisation of resources in the context of existing applications
  • SensLog solution for sensor data, integration of data from different sources

The amount of sensor data is growing with the spreading of the IoT technology, but unfortunately, there is still lot of formats and interfaces how sensor data are provided and published. Especially for Citizen Observations there is not defined any recommended or standardized way how to exchange and publish this type of data.

The webinar will introduce the benefits emerging from the utilisation of the OGC SensorThings API, as well as the problems that aims to address in terms of modelling both in-situ and citizen science sources of environmental information. Following this, presentations about existing relevant implementations will take place while also the  different use cases that will be addressed in the context of the hackathon shall be discussed.

The webinar is addressing technical audience, including IT administrators, software engineers, solutions providers and product managers that want to be engaged with novel approaches that leverage open APIs, OGC standards and IoT paradigms for in-situ and citizen-sourced environmental monitoring. Data providers and data consumers are also welcome to the group, because we would like to contribute to the data exchange possibilities.
